Heard It Through The Blogvine--Is Big Brother OnThe Move?

Class, as you WELL know your blondalicious teacher is all over the blogosphere. Sometimes I leave comments....sometimes I don't. Sometimes I read on my RSS reader...sometimes I read your posts I've favorited on Technorati. Sometimes I just surf around letting my blog nose lead me to juicy stuff. You never know where I'll show up!

And it's this way that I sniff out the blogsosphere Zeitgeist. Since some of my new students might fathom I'm unaware as judged by a recent bizarre comment left for me and to which I responded with another comment (while I kicked this idiotic commenter's astral a$$ all the way beyond Pluto!), I may play stupid like Pamela Anderson or other famous blonde's (and yes, I KNOW the word 'blond' is sometimes spelled 'blonde' and who really gives a shit?!), but you know how much I love to tease and play!!! And if you were able to read that sentence and grok what I meant, come play with me! Let's trade linkz!

This is why I read many, many blogs....everything from the big boyz like Shoemoney & Chow (baby!)to Andy Beard to blogs that are totally heart-driven to tech blogs. I read posts by lonesome bloggers, hungry bloggers, grouchy bloggers, whiny bloggers, needy bloggers, funny bloggers, well-meaning bloggers, ambitious money-hungry bloggers and pathetic bloggers where I'm the only showing up for the post party. But that's me. I AM the BLONDALICIOUS teacher. This is my job and my passion. Correction: one of my MANY passions!

The point I'm trying to make is this:

Lately I've read many posts by bloggers who are concerned about the loss of their former Google Page Rank status because they say they've been penalized for using Text Link advertising on their blogs. Some are really quite upset such as Bryan of One Man's Goal.

He's one of many. How do you feel about this?

Personally, I gave up on most advertising long ago when I realized that most blog advertising revenue was just Chump Change, but I understand that others are more driven than me. I'm still waiting for My Prince Charming with Big Bucks to sponsor my blog. Some bloggers actually do quite well with text link ads and other ads, even though most smaller bloggers don't see that kind of success.

How do you feel about this serious matter, Mr. "Humor-blogs.com"?

I wonder which one of these bloggers I am. Probably the well-meaning one.

Why can't I ever be the whiny blogger? Why?

I've never earned on red cent on ads so the heck with them. I'm just blogging for the sake of blogging. I only have a few faithful readers but they make me happy with a comment from time to time. Loved you post.

I haven't even figured out what happened yet. All I know is that I fell 20,000 spots. yikes! Explain it to me. Oh, your blog is absolutely great!

The ranking is confusing and bewildering. Most of us work hard to honestly build a following the right way. My site was a top 10K blog until recently when it started falling via Technorati for no reason. Disheartening. They've apparently reconfigured something and nobody knows - as if they ever did - what the rules are anymore.

    Sad.

By the way, Do you have your peace globe yet?
Bloggers from around the world will be flying theirs on November 7, 2007.

I love the fact that you used to word "grok!" That gives you some page ranks in my book. My book is quite small. Not really a book at all, actually. More a pamphlet. Okay, fine. I don't have a book yet, but if I did, you'd get some pages.

I don't give a rat's rear end about my ranking stuff. I used to, but then I realized what I like to do is write whatever I want whenever I want to and read whatever I want whenever I want to, so that's what I do now.

I'm going to continue trying my advertising while I'm raking in the cash. So far, I've been blogging for only over a month and have raked in a sweet, sweet, 85 cents.

The problem is that most of my posts contain the words "poo", "balls,", etc., etc...so I usually end up advertising "Relief for Hurricane Katrina Victims."

Although a worthy cause, it's not making me any dough.

I don't care too much for anything that is rank!
As bloggers we have many methods of finding readers and although some come via search engines more come via recommendations, social networking sites, your blog comments on other posts .............
Maybe we should all show our objection by using Yahoo search. Ooops I used a word Google may not like, hope I have not affected your rank!

I know it keeps you up at night, "blond" not ending with an "e" - but we'll adjust to any facsimile of humor and wit offered upon our PC plate.

You have a lot of blogs baby. Chose this one at random. Fun times.

I started blogging for fun, I'm still blogging for fun, and I plan to continue that way...so, I don't really care too much about the whole rank thing. I guess for more ambitious bloggers the whole Google rank thing could be a problem, but that's not my case.I read blogs that I like, which I usually find by way of other blogs that I enjoy, and as long as I have a few readers of my own, I'm happy.

Blogging shouldn't be a way to make money. Since the US army let the internet to people in the early 80's I thought web would create a world wide community, was I dreaming? Blogs are the web to share and not to earn!
    kind regards all

Well I for one am very relieved that I've never resorted to using PPP, ReviewMe, textlink ads etc. Even Apsense isn't anything worth the realty it consumes IMO for the 'chump change'.

I'm in this for the fun, but if a major reputable advertiser wanted send some of their $$ my way, I doubt that I'd say no ;-) But I don't foresee this in my immediate future, haha.

However, I'm going to be GASP! frankly honest here. It's not fun going to the lengths of research, time and effort spent to write decent posts, to feel you're talking to the walls. The more readers I gain, the more it thrills me.

It tells me that I'm perhaps doing something right, and maybe making someone's day or even the moment by what they've read, or perhaps helped someone in some way in my efforts. A justification for my existence if you will.

So yes, page rank and search engines are a concern to me.

I'm quite new to this, as you know my Bodacious Blond teacher. I started my blog April 1st, immediately after the last PR update. So I've been living with a blank bar since the time I created my site.

It does matter to some, as I've received the occasional remark asking if my site's been banned for doing something 'undesirable'.

But the green bar isn't a current telling of how the search engines and G view your site for authority. Even though my bar is shaded in, I still receive traffic from the SERP's. Every single visitor that comes to my site and returns brings me a lot of pleasure. It's my reason for spending the insane amount of hours I do at this.

1st, all my favorite blonds spell blond without the E!

2nd I gave up on all ads except my Amazon store which I really don't pay much attention to and really only family and friends have used it. It's more fun to interact with people than trying to get them to buy something.

3rd, I'm not waiting for Prince Charming but rather I'd like to be a kept man....I'm a good cook and well ...handy

Did I mention I like Blonds??

I just don't have time to try to follow up with some of these sites that promote your blog. I was on one called Link Referral for awhile but you had to review other people's blogs that weren't necessarily blogs you'd read otherwise, and it just seemed like too much work. I don't really care what my ranking is, if I get a reasonable number of comments on my posts and feel as if I am part of a cozy little community. I had AdSense on my blog when I first started but after a couple of months I got rid of it as I didn't like the ads I was getting. Not worth it.

I look at my blogging as "practice writing." I figure if I get good enough at it maybe I can be a freelance writer and make money that way!

Well... it just so happens that I'm the bloke who wrote the post that started the uproar in the first place. I must confess that I just can't help myself. I'm a rabble-rouser at heart I guess.

So rather than repeat what I said you will just have to visit my blog to find out what I think about it all. But we warned, it's not for the faint of heart.

BB, it is so good see you back blogging again. I missed you soooo much.

    Love and kisses,

    the other BB
